01 Dec Mondo Power receives award for community engagement
Mondo Power has been recognised by Energy Networks Australia and Energy Consumers Australia for working with the Yackandandah Community in northern Victoria.
In 2016 Mondo Power began a partnership with the volunteer group, Totally Renewable Yackandandah (TRY), to explore energy solutions in order to help the community achieve its goal of powering the town with 100% renewable energy by 2022.
Through long term collaboration and communication with TRY and the people of Yackandandah Mondo Power developed the Yackandandah Community Mini Grid. This project involves 169 houses in the local community and incorporates solar generation, battery storage and smart energy management.
In presenting the award Energy Consumer’s Australia CEO Rosemary Sinclair said that network businesses needed to enter into a new dialogue with consumers to deliver the services they need in a transforming energy market.
“These engagement awards recognise the networks that are finding new ways to connect with consumers and adapt their business strategies to deliver better outcomes” said Ms Sinclair.
“The award shines a light on consumer engagement practice that is setting a new standard across the industry”.
Mondo Power is excited about taking the lessons learnt from this very successful engagement with the Yackandandah community and using them to work with other communities around the country to help them achieve their energy goals.
